Since its release, the global version of Tower of Fantasy has been catching up with its Chinese counterpart, and international players have used the latter as a benchmark to predict upcoming content. However, the accelerated content release of the global version means that it is quickly catching up with the Chinese version, and the question remains: how close to each other will these two different versions of the Hotta anime game work?

Tower of Fantasy lead designer Skye confirmed to us that the studio would "like to see both versions combined, or ideally have one version," but the "significant differences" between the two mean they'll be keeping the two versions separate from each other for the foreseeable future friend.

However, they also stated that "the gap between the two versions is constantly closing," suggesting that we may actually reach a point where content updates for both versions of Tower of Fantasy occur simultaneously.

The Chinese version of Hotta Studio's RPG debuted in December 2021, eight months ahead of the global release. During this time, major content updates such as Vera and Artificial Island were updated in the Chinese version a few months ahead of the global version, and several Tower of Fantasy characters that had not yet appeared in the world debuted.

As you might expect, the international community is using the Chinese version's roadmap to predict what content they're most likely to see next, as well as making informed decisions about which time-limited Tower of Fantasy banners to spend their hard-earned currency on. which ones can be skipped.

Of course, China-exclusive collaborations have put an end to this, as players are clamoring for characters that are unlikely to appear due to "copyright barriers." These joint efforts are almost certainly one of the insurmountable obstacles preventing a complete merger of the global and CN versions.

While the simultaneous updates will allow Hotta Studio to throw more curveballs at the community in terms of big reveals and plot twists, it could also have a potential impact on the balance of the global version. At the moment, the Chinese version is a useful testing ground for balance, and characters like Claudia have undergone significant skill percentage changes for their global debut. If the characters are released at the same time, their builds may be retroactively changed in the global version.
