Community Event Emblem Destiny 2 from Eliksni Quarter contains a secret message that may have a deeper meaning in the game's complex narrative.

When the emblem called "Parts of a Whole" first appeared, the Guardians quickly noticed that it depicted a binary code. Initially, most players considered this to be a simple graphic design aesthetic, although some speculated that the mere appearance of a binary code on the end-of-season event emblem could mean that the upcoming season had something to do with computer technology.

However, players familiar with the binary code then realized that the code was referring to something that might be important for the upcoming season.

Youtuber Destiny 2 LUCKYY 10P details how the information on the emblem turns into a phrase that is likely to prove crucial in helping players understand the ongoing narrative. (Video in English)

Translated from the binary code, the emblem sounds like "Copper Scroll". The message doesn't seem random, although players aren't sure what to do with it since it's related to an event Destiny 2 Eliksni Quarter and the coming season.

Some have suggested that this may be a reference to the real Dead Sea Scrolls, one of which is decorated with copper and is therefore known as the Copper Scroll. While such a reference may seem like a stretch, Bungie usually incorporates themes from history and mythology into its lore-heavy narrative. The Copper Scroll differs from other Dead Sea Scrolls in that it is not a work of literature, but a list of places where seekers can find treasure.

This has led some to speculate that the message in binary is a reference to a treasure map, which ties into the treasure-based "Season of Plunder" theme.

However, the message can also have a deeper meaning. First, some have speculated that the fact that the message is in binary format may point to Rasputin, the AI Warmind, who is often depicted as copper in the game world. If the phrase "Copper Scroll" is indeed a reference to the map, it could also refer to the vision of Osiris in the recent cutscene. Destiny 2 at the end of the season, in which he talked about the secret hidden on Neptune. Together, these factors may indicate that the Copper Scroll is an item that can point players to the city of Neomun, which the game will introduce in the expansion. Destiny 2 Lightfall, which will be released in February 2023.

If that's the case, perhaps the title "Pieces of a Whole" could also be related to the narrative that connects the city of Neomun with the events that led up to Lightfall.

Players won't have to wait long to find out how the emblem code connects to the game's storyline. Season 19 Destiny 2 kicks off tomorrow and will presumably set events that will guide Guardians to events at story points in the current narrative arc Destiny 2. While Bungie hasn't confirmed any information about the upcoming season, a recent teaser Destiny 2 with Rasputin and the mention of IKELOS and Seraph weapons on the official Bungie blog point to a Warmind revival season that first appeared in the game in 2018.

The return of Rasputin could mean a lot. Some characters in the universe Destiny 2 consider artificial intelligence to be humanity's only hope in the ongoing struggle for the Traveler. But for now, players of the popular space game will have to be patient to find out how The Copper Scroll ties into the main storyline.
