Another Hero Announced Overwatch 2 and Blizzard provided additional information about the Battle Pass of the first season of the game.

A new hero, Kiriko, will appear with the game at launch. As the newest support hero, this character can teleport through walls to protect teammates with a healing ofuda. Kiriko can also lunge at enemies to destroy them with a kunai.

When it comes to the Season One Battle Pass, Blizzard said it will "deliver in one drop" more than it has since the original game launched in 2016. This includes three new heroes that will be immediately available to returning Overwatch players who logged into the game during Season XNUMX or XNUMX.

Overwatch 2 will use a new seasonal model, which means new content will be released every nine weeks. Each season will include new experiences and ways to play, and will typically introduce a new hero or new card, rotating each season.

Each season will feature a new Battle Pass and each will have its own unique theme, up to 80+ unlockable cosmetic tiers, and hero balance changes at the start of each season.

Loot boxes, as you know, will be gone in Overwatch 2. But you can purchase anything you want in the in-game store using a virtual currency called Overwatch Coins. The shop will be stocked with cosmetic items for all players every week, and many of them will be cyberpunk-themed in Season XNUMX. In subsequent seasons, items with different themes will appear in the store.

The store will also feature a "Just For You" section with personalized offers based on what you like to play and equip in-game, as well as rotating packs. For the first few seasons, this section will feature rotating item sets from the original Overwatch.

The Battle Pass is free for everyone, and you can upgrade to a premium Battle Pass in the store to unlock premium rewards. A free track will also be available.

If a new hero appears in the season, it will be available through the free Battle Pass track at level 55. They are immediately unlocked on the premium track of the Battle Pass. New heroes can also be purchased from the in-game store.

In the first season, everyone who logs into the game will automatically receive Junker Queen and Sojourn. Owners of the original Overwatch will also receive Kiriko from the Founder's Pack, which must be redeemed by logging in before the end of Season XNUMX.

Unlockable free rewards in the Battle Pass are offered in 20 tiers spread across 80+ overall tiers. This includes epic skills, weapon charms, souvenirs, Highlight intros, emotes, victory poses, name cards, sprays, player badges, and more.

The Premium Battle Pass will include 60 additional (80 in total) tiers to unlock, including a Mythic tier skin and other premium cosmetic items. If a new hero appears in a season, purchasing a Premium Battle Pass will give you instant access to that hero, as well as boosting the Battle Pass experience for the entire season and granting additional cosmetic rewards.

The Season 60 Premium Track provides instant access to Kiriko for new players and contains over XNUMX cosmetic items to unlock, including five new Legendary skins, one Epic skin, and the all-new Mythical Cyberdemon Genji skin. Mythic skins are a whole new level of skins, and this Genji skin in particular has layers that can be mixed and matched.

The Premium Battle Pass will cost 1000 Overwatch Coins, equivalent to $10, and coins can be purchased directly or earned by completing weekly challenges.

As for progressing through the Battle Pass, it can be done by simply playing the game, as well as completing daily and weekly tasks. Those who complete the Battle Pass season will be able to continue advancing through the Prestige levels.

In addition to the five new maps already announced, Season XNUMX will feature a new map, Esperanza, set in Portugal. All maps are available to everyone, and in the future, as a rule, a new map will appear every next season. Past and new Limited game modes will be available, and Season XNUMX will feature the Wrath of the Bride of Junkenstein event.

More information about the Battle Pass can be found in the FAQ section.

As for the future of the game, Blizzard already has new core game modes and a set of new maps in the works, with one of the new modes set to launch later in 2023. PvE will also appear in ib 2023.

Overwatch 2 will be free-to-play when it releases on October 4th and will include cross-platform play with cross-progression.
