Arguably the most iconic episode of Rick and Morty is the one in which Mr. Meeseeks made his first appearance on the show, and one comic reveals that the episode in question actually had a secret ending that television fans didn't see. .

Rick and Morty introduced Mr. Meeseeks in the Season 1 episode "Meeseeks and Destruction." In this episode, Rick and Morty go on a fantasy adventure of Morty's choosing, so Rick gives the other three members of the Smith family a box of Meeseeks. This box is capable of summoning a creature known as Mister Meeseeks, and Meeseeks's only purpose is to complete one task (preferably a simple one) and then cease to exist. However, if Meeseeks fails to complete a certain task, he will remain alive forever, causing him to lose his mind in just a few hours - and that's where the drama of this episode begins. Jerry asks his Meeseeks to help him improve his golf game, and when the Meeseeks can't, that Meeseeks calls on more Meeseeks and so on, but they all can't help Jerry. As a result, the Meeseeks come to the conclusion that the only way to achieve oblivion is to kill Jerry. However, before they kill him, Jerry manages to improve his golf swing and all the Meeseeks quickly disappear - or so the fans thought.

One Mr. Meeseeks survived in Rick and Morty's Meeseeks and the Destruction

In Rick and Morty: Crisis on C-137 #4 by Stephanie Phillips and Ryan Lee, Rick and Morty are on the run from literally every one of Rick's enemies across the multiverse. From Supernova Vindicator to the king of the sea himself, Mister Nimbus, there is no shortage of increasingly deadly villains who want Riku dead, and the man who brought them all together is none other than Mister Meeseeks. The issue opens by asking readers to remember the day Jerry improved his golf swing and helped all the Meesicks get to their deaths—and while most of the Mr. Meesicks were able to disappear, one of them survived. Not knowing why he was still alive, this Mr. Meeseeks decided that the only thing he could do to ensure his death was to kill Rick, but to do that he would need help, and that's how Rick and Morty found themselves in this crisis event in on the scale of the entire Universe.

While this Mr. Meeseeks may have survived in "Meeseeks and Destruction," Rick in this comic made sure to end his reign once and for all. An interesting thing about Mr. Meeseeks is that his existence is entirely dependent on his perception of the task being completed, rather than how Meeseeks actually completed it. So, Rick told the Meeseeks that the reason he is still alive is because before the events of "Meeseeks and Destruction", Rick secretly gave the Mr. Meeseeks a task to find all of his enemies (which the Meeseeks did) and then kill them, after which Misickam ordered to forget about this task and help Jerry with his case. This explanation for why he didn't disappear in "Meeseeks and Destruction" was enough for this Meeseeks to turn his attention to Rick's enemies rather than the scientist himself. Obviously, this was a lie, and this Meeseeks was simply caught in a tangled web of tasks stemming from Jerry's ineptitude - but it still worked.

Not only was this Rick and Morty comic a hilarious adventure that featured the greatest villain in the series' history alongside fan-favorite Mr. Meeseeks, it was also a truly epic echo of one of the series' most beloved episodes, and allowed fans to see the episode's secret ending that was not shown on television.
