Netflix co-creator Cobra KaiJohn Hurwitz, turned to the newly announced Sony Pictures Karate Kid film, confirming that he had nothing to do with the project.

On social media, Hurwitz responded to a fan's question about whether he had heard of the film. According to Hurwitz, while he and his team Cobra Kai I would like to make a film about the world Karate Kid as well as Cobra Kaihe has nothing to do with the new film and generally knows little about it.

"The guys and I would like to do Karate kid as well as Cobra Kai movies and hopefully someday. But this is not from us and is not oriented towards Cobra Kai Cast. I don't know much about this, but I wish you all the best," Hurwitz tweeted.

The story behind the new film is yet to be revealed, but the report gives a brief synopsis of the film, which is said to focus on a character named Lee, who is living through a past tragedy that drives a wedge between him and his mother.

In a potential twist from the original Karate kid storytelling, Lee will train someone else. The story mentions that he met Mia, a classmate, and Victor, her father. Apparently, soon Lee begins to teach Victor the techniques of kung fu.

Karate Kid will be the last film in Karate kid franchise since the 2010 reimagining of Harald Zwart's film, which starred Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan. The film received mixed reviews from critics and fans, but at the time of its release it grossed approximately $400 million at the box office.
