Are you looking for the series Bunker when will the third and fourth season be released? Rebecca Ferguson, star of the critically acclaimed Apple TV+ series The Bunker, has revealed ambitious plans for the show's future, hinting that the final two seasons could be filmed simultaneously, with the potential of bringing the series to a dramatic finale. The dystopian series, based on the bestselling novel Wool by Hugh Howey, has become a critical hit and one of the most popular shows on Apple TV+.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world where humanity survives in a giant underground bunker, Ferguson stars as Juliet, an engineer who is eventually appointed head of the sheriff's department. The lavish, big-budget adaptation expanded the scope of Howie's universe, planning to stretch the three-book series over four television seasons. Speaking about the expected runtime of the series, Ferguson noted that they already have an ending, and that the plan is to film the final two seasons simultaneously to make it as efficient as possible.

“I believe that the series has an end, and I know when it will come. That's the whole answer. You will know when the series ends. To be honest, I don't think it's a secret. Books are books. It's three books, and the three books are divided into four seasons. So I think, unless some Apple representative comes at us, I think we can absolutely safely say that we're done with season one. The second season has been filmed and is being released, and we are now considering the possibility of launching seasons 3 and 4. And I think we'll film them together and that'll be the end of it."

Rebecca Ferguson doesn't want Bunker fans to wait too long

Ferguson said the decision to film the third and fourth seasons together was influenced by practical and fan considerations. She explained the logistical benefits of this approach, saying: “I think that's the plan, and I think that because demand for it is so high, which is great, the point is to give people what they want so that There wasn't too much of a gap between us. But everything is changing. It's all about timing. The point is that it works. What else is coming out. It’s a mathematical equation for how and when it all comes out.”

Rebecca Ferguson says she would film three different episodes of The Bunker in one day

The block shooting strategy, where multiple episodes are filmed simultaneously, played a key role in managing the series' intensive production demands. Ferguson discussed the complex logistics of this method, highlighting the challenges and her personal tricks for staying on top of keeping track of what episode she's filming on a given day.

“But you also have to understand that you have 20 episodes, you might have five different directors, and as actors we jump around. There is nothing consistent. So it's very stressful for us and very stressful for the directors. But that’s exactly how we filmed the second season. I shot three different episodes with three different directors in one day.

So I separated my scripts by color, by direction. I only have my materials, no one else's, and I have them in sequence, in order, so that when I look at the day, I know who I'm working with, when I'm working with them, where I'm at. So it's very unsexy. And I find it very sexy. I love everything about highlighters. I'm a little OCD."

How did the first season of the Bunker series end?

In the finale of the first season of The Bunker, Ferguson's character, Juliet, stumbles upon a secret conspiracy in the Bunker, organized by Sims (Common) and Bernard (Tim Robbins) from the IT and legal departments. After discovering video footage on a forbidden hard drive, Juliet sees the real outside world - a bright, lush landscape that contrasts sharply with the barren exterior shown on the screen in the bunker's cafeteria.

Juliet, tasked with "cleaning out" the front of the bunker to accommodate her new knowledge, goes outside wearing a special thermal tape. Expecting toxicity, she is met with the lush world she imagined. However, she soon discovers a cruel twist - her helmet's visor shows her a barren wasteland, and the visuals are manipulated projections to fool the cleaners. The episode ends abruptly as Juliet is confronted with the grim reality of what lies beyond the hill in front of her - miles of nothingness and countless other mines surrounding her.

The release date for the second season of the Bunker series has not yet been determined. The first season is already available to watch. Follow our news.
