We've been waiting years for a sequel to Michael Doherty's Halloween horror anthology Trick and Treat, which has become increasingly popular over the years, and it looks like we're getting closer to it finally happening. During today's screening of the beloved horror film at Beyond Fest, Doherty revealed that Trick and Treat 2 is in active development!

Doherty is working with Legendary on the planned Trick and Treat sequel, and while he made sure to mention that the film hasn't been cast yet, it is in "very active development."

This isn't the first time plans for Trick and Treat 2 have been announced, but here's hoping that this is when something actually happens. Stay tuned for more news as we get it.

By the way, Trick and Treat opens in Regal theaters on October 6th, and the 21 film Sam is also opening in select AMC Theaters on October 2009st!

These new screenings will mark the FIRST TIME of the film's wide release in theaters.
