However, OpenAI is already working on the next major software update for ChatGPT and it is reported that GPT-5 chat will be released this winter. If reports of GPT-5 capabilities are true, then OpenAI could reach a milestone in the development of ChatGPT, making generative AI indistinguishable from humans and reaching the level of artificial general intelligence (AGI).

This is both interesting and terrifying as we cannot predict what AGI is capable of. While GPT-5 may make ChatGPT indistinguishable from humans, it will outperform human intelligence in data processing and content creation.
The GPT-4 update gave ChatGPT a huge set of new features over the previous version, making it an even more advanced tool. Generative AI can process multi-modal input, i.e. data in the form of text and images, to create responses. It also supports multiple languages and can connect to the internet through plugins.

If this happens, then the interaction with ChatGPT after the GPT-5 update may become even more like a conversation with a person.
However, we do not yet have the opportunity to compare ChatGPT with the AGI model, and while OpenAI is not ready to discuss all the possibilities and secrets of the new model. However, GPT-5 should bring significant improvements over previous versions.
The new chatbot is expected to be more accurate and able to perform more complex tasks, such as creating better code. Despite all the benefits, the growth of AI raises some concerns. Perhaps when ChatGPT reaches the AGI level, we will face some negative consequences.

Despite the fact that the developers assure that there is no reason to panic, the growth and development of AI raises concerns about its possible negative consequences. Already, criminals are using the capabilities of the ChatGPT version for their own purposes, and with the advent of a more advanced model, the risks may increase.
In order to mitigate the risks and get an intermediate version of ChatGPT, GPT-4.5 is planned to be launched in the near future. In this release, we will see new updates and improvements from OpenAI that could be an intermediate step towards AGI.
