What will The Sims 5 look like when it comes out? The release of Life is still a long way off, but there is already speculation about how the 4 sequel to The Sims 2014 could change the way we create Sims and slowly but surely ruin their little virtual lives. One The Sims fan and YouTuber has already talked about how cloud gaming can be included in the game following EA's previous comments, with the ability to create subscription models.

The Sims 5 Project Rene is currently being playtested, but this is pre-alpha and is likely not an indication of what we'll get with the full release date of The Sims 5. It should also be noted that what we're about to bring to your attention , doesn't confirm anything about The Sims 5, but there are some old official statements that might show us what to expect from the game when it comes out.

As YouTuber Sims Simmer Erin points out in the video below, EA CEO Andrew Wilson already talked about cloud gaming opportunities for The Sims series back during the 2020 earnings call. They include plans to create the next generation of Sims "on every platform in the world, powered by the cloud."

«We definitely see interactive entertainment moving into streaming and becoming a place where cross-platform play becomes a priority.“Adds EA COO Laura Miele in an interview with The Washington Post from 2020. “I definitely see The Sims as an incredibly accessible, very global game.”

This somewhat confirms our The Sims 5 Project Rene interview this month when we asked if The Sims 5 would continue the tried and true expansion pack method, and Franchise Vice President of Creative Lindsay Pearson said:

“This idea of a core with added content is what has always worked for us. And we will certainly look for ways to make this continue to work for us. But this is still a fairly early stage of our research. So I would say that we didn’t rule out a lot, but we didn’t settle on a final choice either.”

We delved even further into The Sims 5 in our interview, so be sure to check it out. Simmer Erin's video also talks about whether The Sims 5 will have some kind of subscription model. While at this stage it seems less likely than deep cloud integration, there are arguments in favor of a subscription that pays for a constant stream of content packs and updates.

No matter how you look at it, there's reason to believe that The Sims 5 will drastically change what it used to be, and cloud gaming integration seems like a pretty obvious way to do that. Subscriptions will be added? The jury has not yet decided on this issue.
