Disney's new live-action film The Haunted Mansion has been spinning around on the release calendar for some time now, last scheduled for August 11, 2023.

When is the Haunted Mansion movie release date?

The date has been changed, which became known to web54 this afternoon. The popular Disney attraction is now back in theaters July 28, 2023.

Justin Simien (Dear White People, Bad Hair) is directing a new action movie about the popular and long-running Disney amusement park attraction that is haunted by 999 ghosts.

Cast: LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Rosario Dawson and Danny DeVito, Jamie Lee Curtis as Madame Leota and Jared Leto as the Hatbox Ghost.

Winona Ryder, Dan Levy and Hassan Minhaj will also appear in the new film.

In this mysterious adventure, a doctor (Dawson) and her 9-year-old son (Chase Dillon), wanting to start a new life, move into a strange mansion in New Orleans, only to discover that the place is much larger than they expected. Desperate for help, they turn to a priest (Wilson), who in turn enlists the help of a widowed scientist-turned-unlucky paranormal expert (Stanfield), a French Quarter medium (Haddish), and a nerdy historian (DeVito).

The Dark Ride, which was launched in 1969 and continues to operate at Disney Parks to this day, “allows park guests to get inside a spooky and scary estate that features a wide range of supernatural horror stories. There are characters from the graveyard here too.” Some of the most popular characters include the Hatbox Ghost, Madame Leota, the Ghost and the Hitchhiking Ghosts.

Rob Minkoff directed the feature film The Haunted Mansion in 2003, which was the attraction's first film adaptation. Eddie Murphy played the title role in the film. Most recently, Guillermo del Toro was brought in to adapt the ride for a new movie. Alas, it never came to fruition.

Kathy Dippold (Ghostbusters, 2016) is writing the script for the new Disney film.
